FISTS Fall Sunday Sprint
I don’t really work contests much, but I’m a long-time FISTS club member, and I noticed that the Fall Sunday Sprint was this weekend. It’s the last one of 2024, and there’s a note that if participation doesn’t increase through 2024, then future sprints will be cancelled effective 1 January 2025. So I decided to work it, at least this one time if they’re discontinued, and try to work them going forward if they continue.
As always, CW operators are always a pleasure to work on HF, one of the things I really enjoy about HF CW. I started about 17 NOV at 0030 UTC and wrapped up with twenty-six total contacts just before 2359 UTC. Special thanks to Nes, LU9FFS, for answering my CQ right at the end and adding the sole non-VE DX QSO–and giving me a new country (Argentina!).
I’m mainly in it for the enjoyment, rather than chasing points, but with a total of 26 QSOs (one more than required for a 250-point bonus) working 16 FISTS members and 10 non-members, and 15 states/provinces/entities, I calculate a total of 1,750 points. All that’s left is to prep the log and send it in!
All in all, quite a bit of fun this weekend. Here’s hoping they’ll keep coming.
